AirDrop dilemma

Morning everyone,

 

We're having problems connecting iOS (iPads) with MacBooks and iMac via AirDrop. AirDrop works between MacBook to MacBook, iMac to MacBook but doesn't work from iPad to MacBook or iMac. We've tried disabling firewall but still no luck. We're using iOS 9.02 and mix of Yosemite plus El Capitan. Searching online showed Apple forum with 114 comments on a same issue, unfortunately without resolution. I am wondering if anyone here is experiencing or has experienced the same issue and how did you resolve it.

Do you use vlans on your network? If yes, are the devices on different vlans?

All devices are on same vlan, I tried the same at home but still no joy.

I know it's not helpful, but i've tried for ages to get this working and haven't been able to do it so i gave up.

 

If you find the answer i'd love to know.
