Installing the MITM cert on my Android phone gives a warning: Network may be monitored By an unknown third party. Will be trying on an iOS device and windows (7 & 10) on monday and putting together help guides for users to click on.

Yeh it does this in android even when away from the network which is nice. Haven't seen it in any other os

Ive been reading a bit about it, it only applies to anything running 4.4 or later and google arent doing much to sort it.

 

I guess a little disclaimer on the unauthenticated page shoud be fine. I noticed when i googled the warning the uni of bristol has it on their site too https://www.wireless.bris.ac.uk/eduroam/instructions along with lots of other instructions. I wish ruckua and smoothwall worked in the same way as bristol uni...

Tbh I prefer the captive portal for byod users. I like that it times out after a while. This stops peoples devices caning out tinternetweb when not in use.

 

Less convenient for sure but they are getting free wifi so they can deal with it

 

I agree with what you say. My way of thinking with edugeek os even if it helps 1 other it's worth documenting

@markwilfan i have spoken to ruckus about the redirect problem using hotspot. They have given me a little script to try and i can confirm that it works so im thinking, maybe i need to create my own authentication page with the form info that they have give (its only about 10 lines of code). I'll see what Ruckus do to fix "their" problem, if they fix it.
