I am trying to set up the SMTP settings for our MRBS system.

Unfortunately I’ve not had much luck and am unable to get it working with either office 365 or gmail (I'm guessing my settings are wrong).

The rest of the MRBS system is still working fine but no email confirmations are being sent.

Any help or advice on finding what this issue is would be greatly appreciated.

Below are the settings from “config.inc.php” relating to SMTP/mail can anyone see anything that might be causing an issue or I have missed something?

Thank you,

Mike

$mail_settings['admin_on_bookings'] = TRUE; // the addresses defined by $mail_settings['recipients'] below

$mail_settings['area_admin_on_bookings'] = TRUE; // the area administrator

$mail_settings['room_admin_on_bookings'] = TRUE; // the room administrator

$mail_settings['booker'] = TRUE; // the person making the booking

$mail_settings['book_admin_on_approval'] = FALSE; // the booking administrator when booking approval is enabled

$mail_settings['on_new'] = TRUE; // when an entry is created

$mail_settings['on_change'] = TRUE; // when an entry is changed

$mail_settings['on_delete'] = TRUE; // when an entry is deleted

$mail_settings['details'] = TRUE; // Set to TRUE if you want full booking details;

// otherwise you just get a link to the entry

$mail_settings['html'] = TRUE; // Set to true if you want HTML mail

$mail_settings['icalendar'] = FALSE; // Set to TRUE to include iCalendar details

$mail_settings['admin_lang'] = 'en'; // Default is 'en'.

$mail_settings['domain'] = ' ';

$mail_settings['username_suffix'] = '';

$mail_settings['admin_backend'] = 'smtp';

$smtp_settings['host'] = 'outlook.office365.com'; // SMTP server

$smtp_settings['port'] = 587; // SMTP port number

$smtp_settings['auth'] = True; // Whether to use SMTP authentication

$smtp_settings['username'] = 'email address entered here'; // Username (if using authentication)

$smtp_settings['password'] = 'email password entered here'; // Password (if using authentication)

$mail_settings['from'] = 'email address re-entered here';

$mail_settings['recipients'] = '';

$mail_settings['cc'] = '';

$mail_settings['treat_cc_as_to'] = TRUE;

$mail_settings['ics_filename'] = "booking";

$mail_settings['debug'] = FALSE;

// IMPORTANT NOTE: Do NOT put any configuration apart from the "Entry Types"

// below this section

require_once "language.inc"; // DO NOT DELETE THIS LINE

I couldn’t get it working with office 365, but we have a SMTP mail relay setup by county on one of our servers.

When I used the settings for the mail relay it all worked for me. So it's possible my settings for 365 were just wrong.

The creators of MRBS run support for the software from https://sourceforge.net/p/mrbs/support-requests/

They are incredibly helpful so I recommend posting on there if you need any help.

If you want to see the fixes suggested by the developers for my problem please see the tread I created https://sourceforge.net/p/mrbs/support-requests/799/?page=0

I believe the office 365 SMTP server is now smtp.office365.com if you aren’t already using this you could try using $smtp_settings['host'] = 'smtp.office365.com'; // SMTP server

Also If you change $mail_settings['debug'] = FALSE; to $mail_settings['debug'] = TRUE;

You should receive a debug on making a booking which might give you some useful information.

Hopefully this helps.
