mikeprice Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Not sure if this is the right forum but anyway We are looking for some library software to get the school library under control We have looked at Junior Librarian but it seems to do far more than we want and is very expensive. Initially we just want something to calaloge the books and check them in and out. Then be able to see afterwards who has borrowed what. If necessary the data can just be extracted en-masse and analysed in Excel. Anyway, - I was talking to a sales person from Scout and they have a hosted system - but again it seems to do far more than we need and is expensive. She also seemed to be trying NOT to talk about another system called Alice (i.e. less revenue) Does anyone use anything else that is simpler?? - that works?? Any pointers or comments welcome!! TIA Mike
LeMarchand Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 All my schools use Junior Librarian of one form or another. People here have talked about "Oliver", but the only software apart from JL I've used is Book Collector for Windows Features and Screenshots which I don't think would be suitable for a school library. I did do some research a while back, and there are plenty of free/OSS options, but the schools felt that they'd rather stick with the familiar (even though it's very expensive!). 1
DavR Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 (edited) Yup, we're "blessed" with Junior Librarian here also. I used to work as LA support, and out of 60-odd schools I wasn't aware of anyone using anything else, it's really the de-facto choice for primary schools. Edited September 29, 2015 by DavR
