Hi, We are currently using Smart Notebook with the Smartboard 500 and a couple of 600 series interactive whiteboards.

Some of the boards are losing the touch sensitivity ie; tap an icon nothing happens with with the board orientated.

We also tend to find that when using the pens the the pen is considerably less accurate on the right hand side of the board.

I have changed drivers and smart notebook software from 11.4 and gone up the to the latest version and the problem still exists.

We have come to conclusion that the boards may just have had it and that it is time to change.

But change to what? staff want to continue to use the Smart Notebook, our projectors are OK and some are new.

Anyone else had the same issue and come up with a cost effective solution.

I work in 3 primary schools that all have the same boards and projectors.

Thanks

We're almost in the same position - I've still got a couple in a cupboard to use when the next ones break, but have been looking for alternatives. Best I've seen so far is the Epson interactive projectors - they do a version which needs pens and a version which tracks fingers. For primary I'd definitely go for the finger tracking version. They have quite a good deal on Smart Notebook. I also want to look at the Hitachi equivalent - they're a few hundred pounds per unit cheaper and I'm doing well with Hitachi UST procedures at the minute. Both manufacturers have 5 year bulb warranty for Education.

Hi, there are various options available now both with projectors and interactive panels. Personally I have seen a decline in interactive boards and instead see a lot of schools going down the interactive panel or projector route.

One thing which many people love is the fact that you can use your favourite software with the projectors and panels, whether that be Smart notebook or activinspire or even anything else.

Having used a variety of boards, panels and projectors I would highly suggest the Vividtouch panels (we have a demo unit available), and the Epson interactive projectors.

Having tried and tested a range of systems these seem I feel to offer the best feature, quality, reliability and value for money.

More than happy to bring the Vividtouch panel out to do a demo.

has anyone had an issue with the smart boards where you cannot calibrate? regardless of machine connected to the board. same boards as other classrooms, the SMART software recognises the board in other rooms but not on this particular board. it recognises that the device is plugged in but does not recognise that it is a smart board.

I have reset the board using the tiny reset button.

im starting to think its a hardware issue with the board, but it throws me off that the computer detects the device but the software doesn't! tested on known working machines and also a new machine with a fresh install.

Thanks!

If you grab yourself a copy of smart 9.7 and run an edge trace test, if any of values are higher than 2, then smart class it as a failure. Thus if not under warranty you need a new board
