"Pretty" Links Pages/VLE

Morning Guys,

 

So trying to manage a huge number of services and links now and looking to replace our old VLE with something simpler (nothing is used but file dump and links).

 

Ideally was thinking of just going with a nice links page that link to other services (365, HAP, SMHW etc etc), but can't think of anything that can nicely display different links to different users/groups.

 

Ideally thinking of something like Unify layout:

 

But obviously needs to work with staff/student groups so anything like Wordpress etc wouldn't take it, and moodle seems a bit overkill for it

 

Any obvious one I'm missing?

I use this: EIGHT - start page - UPDATE by flatmo1 on DeviantArt

 

with a working example here, but I modify it myself, which means it is kept under control a bit more, NTC Staff Launchpad

 

students have one without the staff part set as their homepage and both pages are available as a link on the school website

Oh I like that! Don't suppose you have a copy of the download laying around? Just noticed that link on the website seems to go to an error not found page IC.cz

 

On a side note, do you actually lock it down so students cant access staff? Just wondering as we got some things like help guides for staff that ideally didn't want kids to see, but not end of the world I guess

I do not, but In theory you could with html coding and on ISS restrictions somewhere.

Here's our Intranet landing page. Very simple with onmousover for each square, staff love it due to it being simple and colourful.

If we're into 'I'll show your mine if you'll show us yours' mode, here is ours.

 

Threw it together quickly over the Summer Holidays when we discontinued Frog - running on IIS8 with PHP & MySQL for the notices. Pulls in the background that Bing uses each day which makes it sort of interesting. Just finished tweaked implementing adLDAP with it as well so I can start tweaking it to show icons depending on AD group membership, etc.
