win Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Has anyone got virtualbox available for remote access? If a student wanted to work on it from home e.g. to do some homework, can you set it up using remoteapps / rdp?
3s-gtech Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 VirtualBox can host RDP sessions itself, so you can RDP into VMs that have no network access (acronym attack). If you have a solution for piping RDP sessions out, then it should work. Licensing may be interesting for that however, if the VM is running Windows.
win Posted September 22, 2015 Author Posted September 22, 2015 I've removed the network access bit so rdp'ing in is going to be tricky. I managed to get it working with remoteapps - turned out to be permissions, however it is very slow so not worth using anyway!
synaesthesia Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 The majority of IDE's have very good counterparts in Linux etc; might be worth knocking up a light Linux dist and virtualbox environment students can take home on a CD (or maybe a livecd?) to work with? Probably not great if you work with multiple languages but if it's just something like python it'd be ideal.
