mac_shinobi Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Just thought it a bit odd in step 2c that the dhcp database is in a microsoft access database format aka *.mdb Why not SQL or something a bit more robust ? Maybe Im asking a completely daft question. Was just curious From another post btw which someone suggested this link : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325473 Regarding restoration of dhcp obviously

Geoff Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Windows server has used JET as it's storage engine for DHCP and WINS since NT. I'm unsure if this changes in W2k8 Server.

cookie_monster Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Small well managed jet/access databases are reliable, fast and don't corrupt often so i suspect MS don't want to mess. It's the same in 2008 server they don't seem to of moved it to the renamed Windows internal Db.
