azc Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Anyone using Watchguard firewalls? We have a pair of XTM1050 devices in a high availability cluster, and we're having trouble getting support from any company with regards to firmware updates. One has even told us that we are probably the only people in the whole country running these devices! Anybody able to back me up here? Thanks.
achedgy Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I've got a watchguard firewall in one of my small business customers, get firmware updates direct from WatchGuard, but the account and subscription was set up by GCI who sold it to me.. They may be able to help you: Will pm some contact details to you!
cpjitservices Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I hear the best thing to do with a Watchguard is, Install PfSense. www.pfsense.org
localzuk Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 We looked at getting a WatchGuard device a while back - we looked at a few companies who were keen on the devices. The most knowledgeable was Synetix Solutions (now Evolve), who arranged demonstrations direct from WatchGuard. So might be worth contacting them.
forkies Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 We have a watchguard xtm850 and are moving to smoothwall in the half term due to bad web filtering. Great firewall just web filtering isn't designed for schools.
MatthewL Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 We had around 200 of the things in the NHS when I was there at various sites/setups, only used for light filtering but we did have a HA cluster at the data center. We were one of the biggest users of them in the UK at one point. I left there 3 years ago but we used to deal with a chap called Mike Pencavel who had worked at various places but believe he is with Watchguard UK now. He used to be in the NW area but has worked for a number of their Partners, Sec1 and Concorde are two that ring bells but hopefully someone on there can help. If your product is registered you should be able to get firmware.
