AJWhite1970 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Morning all. Simple sounding question but I can't find a way to do this.. I have one VI student who we are issuing an ipad too to help with his learning. All I want to do is create an apple account with no credit card so he can download updates and free apps (it's a trusted student before everyone gasps in horror...) but effectively block him from downloading anything that costs. I've seen numerous guides how to do this but it always loops round to credit card details after accepting the AUP logging in on the ipad. Any assistance in stopping me going mad appreciated.... Andrew
kennysarmy Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Can't you use a school credit card to setup the account and then change the details to NULL once it's setup ?
DJ-1701 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 If you create the Apple account using the iPad I believe you have the option to select no payment method.
Ant Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 If you create the Apple account using the iPad I believe you have the option to select no payment method. This is what I usually do however when setting an account up earlier this week, it insisted a credit card was entered. Not ideal, but I used mine and then removed the details after the account was created.
Linfit Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 If you try and download a free App from the AppStore, making sure there is no Apple ID currently logged in, when you get the prompt to create an Apple ID you can work through the screens and this does have the "none" option for payment method. I use this method to create ID's linked to staff e-mail accounts. there are other ways of triggering the create Apple ID prompt but these don't seem to produce an option for no payment method. 3
AJWhite1970 Posted September 10, 2015 Author Posted September 10, 2015 Thanks everyone, the free app download was the one Cheers Andrew
