Academic Management vs Nova-T for timetable amends?

As a newbie to timetabling I would appreciate advice on making changes to the live timetable during the school year. The advice I've had is to make all changes to staffing and rooming in T-6 then export each time - but the SIMS manual suggests using the Academic Management facilities in SIMs.net for ongoing changes, and just using T-6 to design/build the timetable each year.

 

What do people think - and what are the advantages/disadvantages of both option?

We always use Nova T6 for making changes to the timetable, both staffing and room changes (but we always use a construction dataset not maintenance datasets).

 

When you export back to SIMS make sure that the date is always atleast tomorrow, otherwise you risk losing attenadnce data if classes get removed from today (or worse if you backdate it to the start of term/year).
