Steven_Cleaver Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Hi I am just wondering if there is a way of running Multiple SIM's instances on one PC someone mentioned you may be able run Parameters on Pulsar.exe to do this but can't find anything about this. Many thanks Steven

ITGURU Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Sometimes you do need multiple instances of SIMS. For example we merged with another school a few years ago, and sometimes still need to access the archive database.
Steven_Cleaver Posted September 6, 2015 Author Posted September 6, 2015 Hi Tried this but just seems to open in task bar and close no logon screen but I may have got this wrong am using "C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net\SIMSLoad.exe" "C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net\Pulsar.exe/Multiinstance"
MrMat Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Hi Tried this but just seems to open in task bar and close no logon screen but I may have got this wrong am using "C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net\SIMSLoad.exe" "C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net\Pulsar.exe/Multiinstance" Hi Steve, Delete "C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net\SIMSLoad.exe" from the line and change the Multiinstance at the end. You want your target to be this exactly (including quotes) "C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net\Pulsar.exe" /MULTIINSTANCE 1
Banjo Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Do you want different clients and dbs or just different dbs on the same PC? You can copy and paste/rename the sims .net folder (contains pulsar) and run that from any location. By editing the connect.ini you can connect to an old db. This doesn't have to be updated and can be used to access an old archived DB. You can run 1 client and connect to many db's by editing your connect.ini file. [sIMSConnection] ServerName=mis\SIMS2012 DatabaseName=sims DatabaseMode=OnLine [simsdatabases] FriendlyName0=sims1 Server0=mis\SIMS2012 databasename0=sims1 Databasemode0=OnLine FriendlyName1=sim2 Server1=mis\SIMS2012 DatabaseName1=sims2 DatabaseMode1=OnLine FriendlyName2=sims3 Server2=mis\SIMS2012 DatabaseName2=sims3 DatabaseMode2=OnLine [sIMSOffline] PreviousRedirect= PreviousServerName=mis\SIMS2012 PreviousDatabaseName=sims1 PreviousDatabaseMode=OnLine 2

However, i found the solution on here! Create a shortcut pointing to "C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMS\SIMS .net\Pulsar.exe" /MULTIINSTANCE I can then run sims, connect to 1 DB on screen, double click the same shortcut, login to the second DB, and have both running side by side...just what i needed
