[sims] FYI: /MULTIINSTANCE switch for pulsar.exe

So, browsing through the Capita forums, I discovered there's an undocumented /MULTIINSTANCE switch for pulsar.exe that allows you to run multiple instances of SIMS .Net on the same workstation.

 

This would have been terribly useful for the person who runs off the student reports had they known about it.

Next you'll be telling me you just found out you can put a sims.ini in the application directory rather then Windows directory or passing a connect.ini location.

Happily, I don't have to plunge into the bowels of SIMS as often as you do

 

Unless I'm searching for a means to do "X", I won't necessarily find undocumented* features.

 

*by which I mean /? won't list that option.

Haha, not any more, I just get to point and laugh now whilst I wait for huge SQL jobs to complete... then spend the rest of the day pulling my hair out trying to unpick some god awful logic that makes SIMS look like plain english.

this is so much better than my current method of RDPing to the SIMS server to do things while my desktop instance is busy.
