I'm having a really strange issue with one of our smart interactive displays, the display functions normally as a pointing device but when you select the pen tool from either the menu in Smart notebook or the drop down for Smart ink, it still acts as a pointing device unless you use 2 fingers and then it writes.

I've been through what little in the way of settings I can find and have had no luck resolving this, has anyone had this problem before and know how it can be solved, I've opened a case with Smart but that can take up to 3 days for them to even respond.

Any ideas?

What board have you got, and what version of the software?

As I recall, things like this would happen on newer Smart displays (post Smart E70) when using older software (pre version 14). We tried to stick to version Smart Notebook 11.4 for ages to avoid licensing difficulties inherent with newer version, and even with a separate updated driver pack we still had trouble. Only solution was to go to the newer software, and deal with the licensing issue.

We have E70s and are using Notebook 14, I've tried updating to Smart Notebook 15 and still have the same issue, I'm going to try uninstalling the software and re-install as 15 just upgraded from 14 when I tried earlier.

Also, have you calibrated as well as oriented the board? I know that we had a number of issues some of which were resolved with firmware updates for the cameras/boards. The issue rings a bell, but I don't recall the resolution (SmartInk version is buzzing in the back of my head but I don't know if that was the exact same thing).

I tried uninstalling the Smart notebook software but it would not remove, So I gave up and re-imaged the machine, I could have spent time troubleshooting it but unfortunately it's the beginning of term and I just don't have time, thanks all for your suggestions
