One of my biggest pet peeves at school was teachers forcing me to learn 'joined-up handwriting'

 

No! an S has a top half as well as a bottom half. Stop trying to make me write it like a moron!

Cursive writing does, admittedly, look attractive. However it's not the most readable form - I never got the hang of it and eventually refused to do it at school. Complete waste of time that could've been spent on teaching touch-typing and legible print handwriting instead.

 

And more importantly, Batman's a perfect answer there.
