GPO to remove shortcuts created by MSI install

Hi

I am new to group policy and wondering if anybody could help me remove the desktop shortcuts created on all machines after pushing out a few MSI's using group policy. Some were pre packaged, and a couple I made myself (didn't see any options when creating to remove the desktop shortcut)

I have tried as somebody had suggested on a forum going to user configuration -> preferences -> windows settings -> shortcuts -> adding the names and specify the place they are saved and changed the option to delete, but with no luck and am running out of ideas to try.

Any help much appreciated

Could you not use a script? Set it as a startup script so the shortcuts are deleted when the PCs booted up.
