Blue_Cookeh Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Hi Guys, How are you guys dealing with MS Edge? I'm tempted to try disabling/ripping it out as much as possible but not really sure how much it's gonna break things. Anyone else begun their deployment yet?
JRowley Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Not doing W10 until next year, right now however it's safe to say that Edge simply isn't ready to be used in production, it is full of issues. You cannot remove the app from the image however, so you'll need to go to some lengths to try and get rid of it.

Homer Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 I'm pretty sure it's not in the LTSB Enterprise version. I installed it the other day and couldn't find it. I've killed it off now as Windows 10 isn't quite ready for work in my eyes. Never thought I'd say it but I do prefer Windows 8.1 for now...

disk Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I would have to disagree with you Arthur. IE11, while not beating firefox or chrome in that latest benchmarks, it is far from being an "awful browser". It really shines on touch devices if you are running the modern mode. Also, the battery usage improvements alone can make it the better choice for those that need every bit of battery life. Anyway, we will be deploying Edge when we start rolling Windows 10 out next year. We already use IE11's Enterprise Mode for a few sites and my understanding is that you can continue to maintain that list/policy and if a user attempts to go to a site on that list, it will automatically open it in IE11. Should be happening less and less as more sites are updated or fallen out of use.
Blue_Cookeh Posted September 1, 2015 Author Posted September 1, 2015 Having tested Edge it doesn't seem *too* bad... although it seems to be completely broken when going through a proxy server. I just seem to get a "could not connect to proxy server" error :/
