genesis Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Hi We have KMS server on our network, and we use office 2010 installed on Windows 7. After I install office 2010 on a workgroup PC and join to the domain and do a gpupdate and if I open word and File-Help- It says Product activated. Now I have built a new Windows7 image for one of the ICT suit, installed office 2013 and joined this PC to the domain and did a GPupdate and opened Word 2013- File-Account-It says Activation required. We have Microsoft EES for our organisation when I log into the portal, I can see the KMS keys when I click Key under Office professional plus 2013 with SP1. Please let me know how to trouble shoot and sort this so that any PCs have office 2013 gets activated through KMS server from our network. Any help much appreciated. Thanks.
FragglePete Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Could it be related to this? Office 2013 & KMS Activations - Blogs - EduGeek.net Had the same problem last Summer, Office2013 Unique Id does not get reset on your golden image when you sysprep - so it sees each machine as the same ID so you'll never hit 25 activations. You have to re-arm Office2013 manually before you sysprep your image or run a script on each machine to re-arm manually. Pete
3s-gtech Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Have you actually patched your KMS server to issues Office 2013 keys, and installed the key onto the server?
genesis Posted August 13, 2015 Author Posted August 13, 2015 No I have not installed the key onto the server and have not patched my KMS server to issue office 2013 keys to the clients. Do I need to do the below two things , if so please post me tutorials as how to configure\setup this. Thanks 1) patch your KMS server to issues Office 2013 keys 2) install the KMS key onto the server
3s-gtech Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Both should be covered by this: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn385356.aspx
mullet_man Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 We have been reimagine all machines this summer, and the one thing I have noticed is how long 2013 seems to activate over KMS. 2010 seemed to activate really quickly and I'd rarely see the office needs to activate message. With 2013 I see it every time. Have you tried running cscript ospp.vbs /act This should force office to activate.
genesis Posted August 29, 2015 Author Posted August 29, 2015 (edited) I have imaged 20 PCs with office 2013 , If i copy the below script from the second instruction from the link provided by FragglePete to a notepad and save it as .VBS , Secondly copy this file to the PC desktop(where office 2013 is installed) and if i execute this vbs script will it rearm the office ? Do I need to run cscript ospp.vbs /act this again http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_resource_kit/archive/2013/06/05/why-isnt-kms-counting-activation-requests.aspx Thanks Edited August 29, 2015 by genesis
3s-gtech Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Install VAMT 3.1 on a server. It makes managing activations massively simpler - you can force KMS or MAK activations, change keys, all sorts.
AJWhite1970 Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Am I missing something regarding VAMT? I installed a new volume licensing server on 2012R2 to replace my now retired 2003 server and all appears to be working, but on some Microsoft sites it says that VAMT is installed as part of installing VL. I've had a look and I can't see it, do I need to install it or is 2012 different?
Arthur Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 on some Microsoft sites it says that VAMT is installed as part of installing VL. The latest VAMT is included with the Windows ADK. You'll need to download that. http://vgy.me/2NxoSS.png 1
AJWhite1970 Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Thanks Arthur, got it all installed now Andrew
