Dos_Box Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I'm going to be flattening this XPS laptop of mine next week and put a clean Windows 10 install on, and at long last it will give me an excuse to rid myself of all of this wasted space! It's on a 512GB SSD, but 8 partitions, what are they drinking!
Wubbalubbadub Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Wow... Can imagine that conversation at dell.. Hey boss is made 20 partitions on this drive. Boss: add 2 more then and were good to go
Arthur Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 what are they drinking! When I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10 I noticed Microsoft had created an extra partition since I had three previously, not four. Are you sure yours are all Dell's doing? http://vgy.me/ZZXM9E.png
pete Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 (edited) Somewhere out there is a Dell tech confident in his massively resilient stash of naughty videos. Edited August 11, 2015 by pete 1

john Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Just blow it all away and start again with a clean 1 partition drive plus the usual 300mb one they give out with Windows its what most people do anyway to get rid of all the extra crudware they pack on them...

Create a partition for that, User data store? Create a partition for that, Spare partition? Create a partition for that just for hell Mary. I do not miss the days of multiple partitions. Especially in a day and age these OS's insist you create a backup/copy/save/sync everything "Online to the Cloud"..... We occasionally find old machines with multiple partitions, they get imaged...

Windows 10 makes a default 500MB now! 1
