I need to bring an Internet connection less then 10 miles line of site to the Home 20. ATT cut me to 3meg download speed from 6meg, and while not perfect was better then the 3meg down.

I can install at least two 150-200' tall utility poles on outskirts of town then what-ever is needed on home 20 to get line of site for the transceivers.

Transceivers will be less then 10 miles apart with line-of-site.

What would be good used/new hardware to get the job done?

I understand that the lower power micro-wave links do not need any FCC any thing bla-bla bla.

There are no planed upgrades to the ATT Deslam, was waiting for them to put out a Vrad but that went out the window I just found out.

The suggested products won't work in this application need. That gear needs wireless to start with, of which there is none. Internet service is provided on two copper wires and I need to get it into RF for transmission to another transceiver. I have no wireless anything to start with.

Whatever technology you use, you'll need to go through something to convert it from whatever it appears as now though.

 

So, say, it is arriving at the site as a VDSL line, you'd have a VDSL modem and router, then you'd have whatever device for transmitting onwards - eg. something like the products @m25man suggested.

 

It arriving as 2 copper wires means very little - you can't just turn bare wire into wireless.

 

What is the type of line that you have at the source?

Yea, normal is copper or fiber to dsl/adsl modem then to cat 6 network & your flavor of wifi depends of modem of course.

What I'am after is to transmit the ISPs signal from transceiver A to transceiver B without connecting to a ADSL modem. Then I should be able to land the output from transceiver B to the ISPs input port on the installed network ADSL modem! Of course this could just be a suck ass idea, And I'am still better off dollar for dollar to start with an ADSL modem output signal then transmit that. Let me call the tech guys to see if The suggested gear can be used as transceiver A & B.

Any other suggestions are of course very welcomed.

Yeah, you're trying to reinvent the wheel. Better to just use a tried and tested technology that just works. Broadcasting such a signal would introduce a major security hole into the network, as it'd not include any form of encryption, unless you introduce some on the fly encryption, in which case why not use Wi-Fi? At least with a Wi-Fi setup you get WPA2. Also, I would have doubts you could create such a system without incurring significantly more costs.

OK, understand. I had not thought about the security hole thing, that would really piss-off the IT guys......lol Lets not and say we did.

Any other Ideas on a wifi bridge in the event that the suggested gear fails to perform as needed?

I looked at some specs of those units and there only good for 10/100 connection. I had hoped They would perform 10/100/1000 as there are school kids that are do to get computers in the next 2 years, and I don't remember what a 10/100 connection will perform at in meg through put.
