[sims] SIMS New Academic Year

Hi,

 

I've recently worked through the SIMS end of year procedure booklet and created the new academic year, however when I have come to run a report I have noticed that the working year runs from 01-09-2015 until 30-08-2016 when in fact it should be running 03-09-2015 until 18-07-2016. The 1st and 2nd of September are teacher training days and the school closes for summer on 18th July 2016.

 

Is there away to amend the working year?

It should run 1st of Sept. to the last day of August, those dates not attended by pupils are marked accordingly. I've done it this way since I can remember.

The academic year should run from 01/09/2015 - 30/08/2016. The "working academic year" is defined by the date range on the first export of the timetable from Nova T6 for the new academic year. So it will depend on the date range that the timetabler used. AFAIK this cannot be retrospectively changed without deleting the entire new year from SIMS and starting again from scratch.

^ As everyone else has said, that's normal. So long as you've blocked out the days that are training and holidays you'll be fine.

Sorry one last one. At this point should last year's year 7's be now year 8s on the system or will they change come the first of September? I'm sorry for all the questions but as its my first year of carrying this out I just want to make sure that everything is correct for the first day of term.

They should still be sitting in year 7 until you get to the 1st of September. Then, as long as you've done your pastoral promotional routine, they will move up to their new year group and form group if applicable.
