Uninstalling exchange after o365 migration

After a cutover migration to o365, how do we uninstall exchange (2010) after all is well and tested?

 

I've read that it will remove important AD attributes which will then sync to o365 making them unusable. To avoid that we should first convert them to mail enabled users so AD will keep the exchange attributes?

Just run through the uninstall as if you were uninstalling any program, it removes it all for you during uninstall.

I have just been through this exact process. I found loads of conflicting reports of what would happen, but ultimately it wont let you uninstall while there are still active mailboxes anyway. Deleting a mailbox did clear the attributes in my case, so I converted all to mail users first (all attribs were left in place by doing this) and then proceeded to uninstall successfully.

I am now looking to re-install a basic Exchange server so that I can continue to make new mail users in future (see my thread of confusion just above this one!)

I didn't uninstall it as i read that they need to be converted to MEUs first.

 

Unfortunately, i can't find how this is done after everything has been migrated. The guide refers to a CSV file that was used to create the batch, but i already deleted the batch file!

 

Anyone know how to create a new migration.csv file post-migration?

 

I assume @Maxell used an existing batch file csv?

I followed the process on this page and it generates the csv for you:

Ignore that it is v2007, it worked for 2010 too. I edited the code of one of the scripts to pull the email address with our domain as the default rather than the @online.microsoft.com address. I think it would have worked anyway, but just for neatness....

Thanks @Maxell but i got stumped at the first step:

 

1. Copy ExportO365UserInfo.ps1, Exchange2007MBtoMEU.ps1, and the CSV file used to run the migration batch to the same directory in your on-premises organization.

 

Where can i get this csv? Or do they mean, copy it only if you have it as ExportO365UserInfo.ps1 will make one for you?

From memory, the csv just needs to be a list of e-mail addresses of the users you want to convert. I think I just exported this from the list of users in Exchange.

That sounds simple enough. I'm looking for a dummy csv file just to see if there are other fields needed. The only one i can find is this one but it's for the migration process:
