jmair Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 A new staff member requested that they just use the previous staff member's email. I updated the names from in Exchange's admin center. When I type the new user's email address, it shows the old employees name (from Outlook and OWA). They receive all emails just fine and we receive emails from the email account with the new name, but the Global Access List isn't updating. How can I update it to show his name and not her name?

If your Outlook clients are using Cached Exchange mode it normally takes a full day for the address list to update. That doesn't explain OWA being outdated though, so my suggestion is to update the GAL from Exchange Management Shell, using this command: Update-GlobalAddressList -Identity By the way, you must have the super secret Exchange 2012 -- the rest of us are using Exch2013. 1

Haha, I hope I'm not the only one that mixes up Outlook version with Exchange version. Server side GAL updates aren't resolving it, so I must have missed something somewhere. Here's a pic, maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, perhaps this isn't a GAL thing? I need Rachel to say Mark. I don't see Rachel anywhere on the email account anywhere, but sure enough this is what we see anyhow.
Edu-IT Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 A new staff member requested that they just use the previous staff member's email. The screenshot shows what looks like their own email address? *Confused*
jmair Posted August 6, 2015 Author Posted August 6, 2015 Perhaps this will show it more clearly. When entering the user name (alias) "mklenshmidt", Rachel Vance show as the recipient instead of Mark. I don't see Rachel anywhere under the mailbox account account. There used to be additional files on the server (though I can't remember what they were called). They were similar to registry files for Exchange. I'm wondering if I need to go in there and update them? Any help is appreciated.
