Lap top won't complete Windows update

I have had issues with my Dell laptop not installing windows update (win8) for several months now , but I haven't been too bothered as I have been eagerly awaiting the deployment of Windows 10 .

I have registered to get Win 10 as soon as it becomes available, but my question is this , does the new OS come in the form of a windows update ? because if it does my lap top won't play ball

That's one way to download it, although MS are doing a staged rollout so you may not get it straight away.

 

The other way is to download the ISO.

I started at 8pm, my machine is currently doing not a lot, just deciding if I'm going to power it off or give it another 15 mins [emoji16]

If you clear out the contents of C:\Windows\SoftwareDeployment\Download and give the windows automatic update service a kick it should start picking up the update straight away.
