Anyone use Mikrotik CCR1009 or RB2011UiAS devices?

We're reworking the WAN for the schools in our trust and a couple of bidders have specified Mikrotik switches, a mix of RB2011UiAS and CCR1009 models. These will be used to create a private WAN that will then break out to the internet at the bidders' data centre.

 

I'm used to Cisco/Procurve/Juniper and am a little concerned that Mikrotik isn't 'enterprise class' and we'd be buying in to a world of outages with this kit.

 

Does anyone have real-world experience they can share (good and/or bad) with using this stuff for mission-critical networking? There seems to be little review data on the web and that too is worrying us.

My colleague raves about Microtik stuff, we have one from Vaioni Group on our 100 meg leased line and I was like WTF is this toy when it arrived but we fitted it and its been as bulletproof as the Cisco routers on other lines. They seem grand bits of kit

I have a RB2011UiAS for my home router. It's fine, but Mikrotik takes some getting used to after working with Cisco/Juniper/Palo Alto kit .

 

They're very good value for what they are though!

We've been running a Mikrotik on our 100mb line for a good few months now with not so much as a hiccup. Originally we thought it was for our failover line when it arrived and surprised when our ISP mentioned it was the full thing. However, I'd heard of Mikrotik previously and a little research showed we need not have worried.
