Wanted Writers

As we are becoming more noticed I think it wise idea to move away from getting news stories and copying them into our site and linking back as we are leaving ourself open to being 'told off' so what I propose so that we get steady stream of urls will design some extra code into news system so that it gets data from some rss feed and links back....

 

but what we really want is someone /or group of you to take on role of writers/reporters for us...

 

While everybody can submit articles and we enourge this still but this role would suite someone who wants to be involved in edugeek but hasn't got time to be one of people doing loads and loads of stuff...

 

But key factor is you must write stuff up not copy articles from another site and post link to it at end....

Can members remember that news items also applies to reviews as well. If you have received any hardware or software you really want to speak about then please write it up and let us know.

 

We are also looking for schools that already have case studies that they are ready to share. If you have an article in the TES, have sold your soul to a supplier and had their name plastered all over your school ... you know the usual sort of thing we are talking about.

 

As always, we will seek permission from all relevant parties to see if we can use it but already prepared case studies wold help to take the load off the new writers.

Instead of nominating specific reporters, why not ask for volunteers to moderate news articles as and when they come in.

 

ie - News articles are not published on the site until approved by a moderator.

 

That way everyone can submit articles, which will lessen the burden on individuals and they get checked for errors and duplication.

If we (SmoothWall) write a news article for our security news feeds or just for fun, and it is relevant to the edugeek folks, we will happily give permission for you to publish it.

 

Most of our security news stories contain relatively little that cant be found elsewhere, and are usually just a bit of a hash of a few sources (secunia, sans, etc.) and do tend to include backlinks - but that's journalism these days! A lot of the value is sorting the wheat from the chaff for your readers.
