LeMarchand Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 ...I either remove certain machines from and rejoin them to the domain or delete the key at HKLM>Software>Microsoft>Windows>Current Version>Group Policy and run gpupdate /force. I've been through the error logs (nothing helpful) and tried adding a delay to allow the policies to process (not sure that policy even applied). Has anyone got a way to achieve the fixes, or a better fix that doesn't involve me trying to physically get to over 100 laptops?
Oaktech Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 is your group policy processing timing out before it does the install? https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2421599?wa=wsignin1.0 1

I get the 1055 error, but not the 5719. Though I did try various times in the policy mentioned to no avail. What settings you using to deploy them? Steve Computer>Policies>Software>Software Installation MSI deployed from UNC path (also tried FQDN path) with the default options - nothing fancy! Now it looks like the remove/rejoin and the reg key deletion aren't 100% either .
Duke5A Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Run RSOP.MSC, right-click on 'Computer Configuration', select properties, click on the 'Error Information' tab. See anything?
LeMarchand Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 Run RSOP.MSC, right-click on 'Computer Configuration', select properties, click on the 'Error Information' tab. See anything? Not on site again until Friday, but I did look at RSOP though didn't follow that procedure. IIRC I went to Comp\Software and looked at the properties for the offending packages and looked at the cause tab which just listed the date/time. Will double check on Friday!
LeMarchand Posted June 19, 2015 Author Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) Run RSOP.MSC, right-click on 'Computer Configuration', select properties, click on the 'Error Information' tab. See anything? Under Software Installation it says Pending because a restart is required (after many restarts). On the (sole) server Group Policy results show the error "The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not resolve the computer name. This could be caused by one of more of the following: a) Name Resolution failure on the current domain controller. b) Active Directory Replication Latency (an account created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller). But you can ping the laptop name from the server and vice versa. Edited June 19, 2015 by LeMarchand
