OFCOM Proposing BT Broadband charges are reduced

This could be good news for some of you: BT's broadband prices under fresh scrutiny - BBC News

 

UK regulator Ofcom is proposing cutting what BT charges for its leased telecoms lines, which could see significant price cuts for those who buy them.That includes broadband operators, schools, universities and libraries. Ofcom said that the savings could be passed on to consumers.

 

It follows a review that found the former state monopoly had "significant" market power.

I'd never go back to BT as a provider

Surely that should be "some businesses". We certainly don't have a lot of choice here. The tail of any line is BT, whoever we go with. Sure, the metro side might be with different providers but BT are involved with any and all leased lines here as far as I know!

Has anyone else had $local_BT_guy offering to undercut $national_BT_guy on pricing for all manner of broadband & telephony-related gubbins without any prompting in the last few weeks?

 

Either there's been a local falling-out or someone at BT has given them leave to backstab each other.

It's their actual customer service and the fact their 'unlimited' package we used to be on, suffered badly from traffic management if you downloaded something daft like more than 4GB in peak times, may have changed since, but I'm comfortable with Sky at the minute, never had an issue
