marsdenprimary Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Hello, We have our broadband provided by RM and use RM SafetyNet PLUS for filtering. We have a proxy and a transparent proxy. When I try to update windows 8.1 - the update service fails with error code: 80072EFD Any ideas?
Michael Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 In Windows 8, configure proxy settings in Desktop mode. Once this is complete, open an Admin command prompt and enter: netsh winhttp import proxy source=ie Windows 8.1 should now start downloading as expected. 1

Thanks for the input though- this is useful to know! you are on the same filtering as us. After running the above in cmd it took a few goes to kick off. Actually thinking about it I might have needed to reboot the pc also. 1

dubsdj Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Seems odd that Windows update would be blocked by default on your web filter... I used to battle a lot with these mickey mouse web filter solutions and in the end decided to get a Fortigate Firewall/Filter and Wireless management device. No more messing around with Proxies and searching for blocked ports.. all done now using application control. Wasn't cheap mind you, but worth the money when you see how much better it is than any of those others.. 1
