mikeprice Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Hi all I have an annoying minor problem with an old activboard. When the PC starts up the pen won't work on the board. All I have to do is go into control panel and connect and it all works fine - so all the connections etc work OK BUT it won't autoconnect on startup The PC is not used that often so people tend to shut it down when they have finished - then it won't work again. Any ideas would be welcome TIA Mike
Steve21 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 You checked the USB leads? Had a few of these before when someone used USB1 rather than USB2 as it doesn't always identify what's connected on the other end. Steve
FWBD Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I've had an issue before with USB bandwidth where we had all the USB ports being used on the back of a PC but it would only pick up half the devices. I had to resort to using a port on the front for it to even pick up the other devices.

mikeprice Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 Is it USB or a serial connection? It's one of those USB serial converters - serial at the board end but USB at the PC end - works fine though when I connect it via the Activ control panel

Newer drivers don't seem to work even though they acknowledge it as a bug

mikeprice Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 current drivers are old than that - I will be trying newer drivers as soon as the room is free (obviously - as soon as I got the new drivers a bunch of kids turned up!)
Michael Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I can confirm you need the v5.9 driver or earlier. The v5.10 driver onwards only seems to support USB out the box (automatically). When installing the v5.9 driver manually, it'll prompt you whether it's a Serial or USB connection during setup. 1
