[ms office - 2010] Change .local to .co.uk Exchange 2010

Does anyone have a guide I could follow for changing the .local to .co.uk on the exchange server WITHOUT me having to recreate the exchange server from scratch?

I'm 99% certain Microsoft don't support domain renaming, but no doubt someone will correct me if this is incorrect. Renaming the domain will break Exchange functionality.

 

It may be worth exploring Exchange 2013 to see if Microsoft now allow domain renaming or not.

rather than changing the domain name , if you could let us know what you are trying to achieve we may be able to help.

There are more than a few ways of tricking the domain / computer name into something different

basically we want to have the exchange changed from

 

server.company.local to be server.company.co.uk to correspond with our website. It was set up in 2013, and the AD is the same. I would love to go through a rebuild of the servers but that's not an option

That's the correct procedure, which is simple ish, however it doesn't mention MS Exchange.

 

I still genuinely believe setting up a new Exchange 2013 box, then migrating the mailboxes across, or of course migrating to O365 is going to be the better/cleaner solution, plus I know first hand this solution works. Even renaming a simple domain involves re-configuring DNS.

This is the easiest way of doing it. We have done the same thing with our Exchange server so that local users to the School network don't leave our internal network when accessing email both on Outlook and OWA.

 

The two enteries we have in there are:

 

Mail.domain.com (for example) which is used for OWA

autodiscover.domain.com for setting up clients/outlook etc
