Can I retrieve data from a Mac on Windows 8?

Apologies if this seems like a ridiculous question but one of our staff tipped a glass of water over her Mac book Pro. Despite my best efforts to dry it out it still refuses to even power up. I have tried a new power cable as well as every known drying method. I suspect that the logic board is damaged. In the short term can I put the 2.5 data hdd into a toshiba win 8 laptop to retrieve the data? don't want to do this if it is very complicated. Also if I buy a data hdd enclosure for it will it need to be used with a mac via us? Many thanks

Edit: You'll need to hook it up via usb though so getting a dock or borrowing a usb enclosure is advised

you can download HFS drivers on your PC so that Windows can read the file structure and mount the drive.

vEry usefull for reading loose HDD's also does 2.5" and 3.5" IDE disks
