6Foot2 Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Link: Kent earthquake 'causes homes to shake' - BBC News A 4.2 magnitude earthquake has been recorded in Kent, the British Geological Survey (BGS) has said. The tremor originated near Sandwich at a depth of 15km (9.5 miles) underground at 02:52 BST, it reported... I was awake at about that time but didn't notice anything. Anyone nearer the epicentre witness it?
LeMarchand Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 *Trying very hard not to make a "the earth moved" joke* Anyone know if there have been any fracking trials going on there?
Duranis Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 I live pretty close to Sandwich and slept through it. If my Mrs hadn't told me about it this morning I would never have known
Garacesh Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 "Plates came off the wall, doors came open - it was all very frightening." - Theresa Foord Let's not ever take her on a haunted house ride, then..
elsiegee40 Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Didn't feel it in Tonbridge. I am not aware of fracking trials in Kent at the moment; I am sure it would be on our local news.
Miscbrah Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 I know, look at the devastation: http://cdn.meme.am/images/6175047.jpg 3
Squelch Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 I live about 5 miles from the epicenter and it was really REALLY loud. Kind of like a sonic boom but x1000. Not what you want to be woken up at 3am by I can tell you.
