Who Has Unifi in Yorkshire?

I am looking into Unifi and I would like to visit a site near by (close to York but will travel) as I was looking to pay people externally but were getting massively ripped off and our cabling infrastructure is already in place (bar a few points) So I will probably just buy the lot ourselves and put it in.

 

I just want to be doubly sure before I go to the Head and say yes I'll do it myself. (we have been quoted £14,000 I reckon I can do it for £4,500 not to be sniffed at really)

We put a UniFi wireless system in after being given an astronomical quote from one of the big wireless providers. There's not really a great deal to say about UniFi, it just works. We put it in ourselves and now have it configured with our Smoothwall to provide BYOD radius authentication for staff and student devices.

This is what people keep bringing up 'Radius Authentication' Ive read about it, does it not require people to put passwords in to join the WiFi, where abouts are you is it somewhere close by that I might pop over to take a look at it in practice.

We have it in Lincolnshire. Works really well. We was quoted £20,000 and I have done it myself for £4,500.

 

Really easy to set up!

smooth wall latest version provided by the council, there's a company called schools wifi that quoted me 7 grand last year seemed really good. I hadn't heard of unifi before last week. I discounted their quote immediately as I asked for PoE switches and not injectors. Still I reckon it can be done for around less than 5 K.

For the record you can get Unifi points that work with standard PoE (The Pro and the AC points I believe) or using the Unifi ToughSwitches (support all unifi points)

 

The Unifi points also support support Radius absolutely fine.
