Hi all,

I hooked up a projector (NEC MT1050) to a PC but I was fed up with having to swap the VGA cable at the back of PC between projector and monitor everytime I switcehd from one to another.

So I get myself a second VGA cable and linked the monitor to the projector (via the RGB Monitor Output prt on the projector).

This works fine as long as I want both running at the same time, but as soon as I turn the projector off/onto standby the monitor goes blank too!

Does anybody have any ideas how I can hook it up so that when the projector is off/on standby the VDU still works?

Cheers

Not if the projector doesn't support this configuration no.

It's obviously not just a straight forward pass through port but goes into some circuitry as well.

I would go for Electronic VGA Splitter because the "Y" cheap types produces double image in the monitor (like ghosts or blury) so get some so you connect the computer output to the Splitter's Input and then the splitter will have two available VGA ports one for the monitor and the other for the projector.
