So I'm not 100% I'm putting this in the right forum, but it might be one of those that can be in multiple places! We have moved our email to the cloud and use mycloudmailbox.com. We access our emails through Office Outlook 2007. For some reason I now the “Check Names” (Ctrl+K) feature does not pull names from the Global Address List. I used to type in the beginning part of the surname of a colleague and click Ctrl+K and BOOM there was their email (as you would all expect!), but not any longer. Now all I get is... It works “normally” for anybody in my own contacts list, just not the Global Address List. I have tried to download the address book by clicking on Send/Receive > Download Address Book, but that didn’t work either. I have also tried to add a new address book by putting webmail05.mycloudmailbox.com into the Tools > Account Settings > Address Books > New > Select “Internet Directory Service (LDAP) > dialogue box, and entering my login details. Without any luck! I kinda hoping somebody has had the same issue and there's a quick fix for it. I'm sure it's something really silly, but when you don't know, you just don't know!! I ended up using: Robocopy "G:\Calvin Files\RPTFiles (Originals)" "%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Calvin#\RPTFiles" /MIR /FFT /Z /XA:H /W:5 Thanks so much rpettit and Galway. I couldn't have done it without you.

ROBOCOPY \\sourceserver\share \\destinationserver\share /MIR Or ROBOCOPY source-drive:\DIR destination-drive:\DIR /MIR So I'm going to try this tomorrow: Robocopy G:\Calvin Files\RPTFiles (Originals) %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Calvin#\RPTFiles /MIR

I just tested that...And it didn't work! It deleted the files of the folder where the batch file was located!

So it would be a delete followed by a copy...Makes sense! I'm a scripting novice so bear with me! Testing done! And the copying side worked a treat...Thanks guys. I used the following: XCOPY "G:\Calvin Files\RPTFiles (Originals)" "%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Calvin#\RPTFiles" /d/s/y But (there's always a "But"!) what about deleted files? I've got it so that it will copy any new files, and copy across any amended files, but what about if I purposely delete a file from "G:\Calvin Files\RPTFiles (Originals)"? At the moment it still keeps the 'old' file that I want deleted in the "%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Calvin#\RPTFiles" location. I suppose what I'm looking for is a 'Clone' of a folder, rather than a 'Backup'. To be honest, it's not a big deal, as initially we just want to deploy these files onto our user machines, and make amendements. We may not even need to delete files. It's just when I was testing, I was adding/amending/removing a test file and the 'remove' part didn't work!

I've not been able to do any testing today, so did a bit more research and wanted to see what you though... So I want the logon script to check the source and destination folders, if there have been any changes to the source folder (amendments to files, new files added, old files deleted). I want these changes reflected in the destination folder. Is there much difference between IF EXIST and XCOPY? After reading your posts it got me digging some more....So, would this work (I can't get to my server to test for a few days!) XCOPY "g:\Calvin\RPTFiles\REPORT" "%public%\Documents\Calvin\RPTFiles\REPORT" /d /y Where g: is a location on the server. Can I use "public" or would it need to be "alluserprofiles", or something else? Or am I barking up the wrong tree completely?!

So here's the deal. I have a Small Business Server (2008) server, and I have multiple laptops connected to the server (sometimes connected...When the users are in the office!). We have some software on the server and laptops that is a database sytem that as part of it's function runs and prints reports. To run these reports I need specific files on each laptop that are located at C:\Users\Username\Documents\SoftwareName\RPTFiles\REPORT. The .rpt files that reside in this folder on each laptop need to periodically be updated. At the moment we go around each laptop and drop them in individually via a flash drive. There has to be an easier way to push these out to all machines...I just can't remember how! So can anybody help? I've been away from the game for a while, so bare with me if it's a silly question!

Hi everybody, I have a classroom with a HDTV. I have been hooking up a laptop, via HDMI cable, to view DVD/BD's and web content (YouTube or live streaming through a website). The thing is I am now after something more permanent and static, but without taking up too much space, or breaking the bank. So I don't want an all-singing-all-dancing full sized tower PC, and wondered what people might be using that's nice and small, but powerful enough to stream video from the internet onto a HDTV? Hi everybody, I have a Siemens SpeedStream 6520 (free from the phone company!) and I wanted to upgrade my wireless capability. So I went and got a Belkin N600 DB. That was all well and good until I realised that it didn't have a built-in modem! So....Can I just hook the Belkin to the SpeedStream and just use the SpeedStream as a modem? Or would I be better off getting a specific modem? Is there much performance difference between a cheap and expensive modem? I think I've used up my quota of questions for now!! Nothing seemed to work...I ended up creating a different profile and copying the contents of his old 'Desktop', 'Favourites' etc etc into the new folders. That seemed to do the trick. I think I'm going to have to put it down to just being one of those 'Microsoft Quirks'!!! Thanks for your help guys. Glenn

Oh yeah...Missed that bit!! It says: Detail: Access is denied. Yes...the files all seem to be there on the remote profile. I have already cleared out the C:\Documents and Settings folder.

Hi guys and gals, I'm sure that this is a common error and I have searched both on here and Google and I still can't get a straight answer! All of our instructors here have Roaming Profiles. All of a sudden this morning one of the instructors complained that his profile wouldn't load. When I went to see 'exactly' what the error message was it came up with: Windows cannot copy file \\Server Name\profile\Profile Name\Desktop to location C:\Documents and Settings\Profile Name\Desktop. Possible causes of this error include network problems or insufficient security rights. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator. A second dialogue box then appears stating: Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off. I have pingged the server from the client PC and all is fine there. I have asked the instructor to try and log on with a different client PC, still the same result. Apart from deleting his profile and starting again...Does anybody know a fix for this? Cheers Glenn

Well that's certainly promising....I'm not one of those that is constantly 'synching' so doing a bit exporting and importing won't be a problem. Thunderbird has a calendar add-on and apparently it might be fully integrated into Thunderbird 3, so I might give that a try too. Cheers Glenn

Hey Clarky, I am aware of both the Thunderbird 2 and MemeCode's i.Scribe/InScribe software but unsure on the functionality of synchronisation with phones. I just wondered if anybody had any experience or knew a definate yes or no, before I start having a play myself. Cheers Glenn

Hi guys and gals, I have been looking at moving from Microsoft Office to an open source package but I have one problem... My phone synchronises with Microsoft Outlook and I love this feature, not only do I have an up-to-date address book and calendar on my phone, it also acts as a back up and has saved me in the past! Does anybody know of an open source Outlook alternative that I would be able to synch with my phone? I suppose it's not a big deal if I can't find one, I'll just keep using Outlook 12! Cheers Glenn

Well...In the end I tried the "trial and error" approach. I found a way by more luck than judgment and it seems to work now! I'm still not sure what I was doing wrong in the first place but the way that I do it now works so I am not going to question it!!! Cheers Glenn
