Windows store app question

Hi there,

 

Without my knowledge the music teacher has decided to buy a surface pro 3 so they can use some fancy music writing software which is only available on the windows store.

 

I was just wondering if the app was brought via the windows store is it locked to the account of the person who brought it? Ideally I would like it available to everyone who uses the computer.

 

Also for buying the app would it be better to create a new email for example [email protected] or something a long those lines or just use mine/another email address?

as far as im aware yes if [email protected] buys the app you need to be signed in with that Microsoft account (not necessarily the same windows login which could be [email protected] for example)as that's how it decides who can download/use it without coughing up again. So if I installed it on my surface pro I could also install it as the same ms user on my laptop but if I logged into my surface pro as someone else I couldn't use it

Thanks look's like the simple way of setting up is with a [email protected] and then buying the app through there and hoping it works for all users from then on.

 

Thanks for the advice the app cost a lot so could have been a costly mistake!

My understanding is that Windows store apps are only available to to user who made the purchase. With Windows 8.1 Microsoft allows that purchased app to be installed on 81 devices.

 

Increasing the app roaming limits

 

To allow other users on those devices to use the app, you need to sign into the store app using the account that it was purchased under. After it is installed for that user, you can then sign out of the store and that user can continue using the app. There may be some way of using powershell to automate this process but that is only a guess.
