I'm noticing intermittent issue when printing from Word 2010 or 2013, I thought it was isolated to one user but could be more than one. When trying to print via file the document goes into not responding and hangs. It happens on different printers (all on the network print server 2008 R2) I have restarted server and spool services, disabled print management software. I have also printed to PDF from File and print and this also goes into the same state. However, if I right click on the file and print using the default printer there is no issue regardless of the default printer. Has anyone come across this?

I had this happen yesterday to 2 machines in our finance department, it was crashing from within our MIS as well as Word and other things too.

I found this solved it;

delete the printer from the user account,

log off,

log on as administrator,

delete the printers in this account (if any),

re-add the pritners to the administrator account,

log off,

log on as user,

re-add the printers under the user account.

This solved the problem on both machines for me yesterday, no idea why, no driver update or anything needed, but it made them work again so I'm just accepting it!

I've had this and removing the user profile from the machine dealt with it... If you have roaming profiles, you might need to nuke the roaming and the local profiles.

Thanks, iv tried nuking the profiles all ready and recreating! I have just tried what Pete suggested but still no luck, doesn't help it being intermittent.
