stephenwelch Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) Hi we are considering ZiLink as a tool to integrate the SIMS DB with our moodle. It seems sensible to use something like this as Linking the right Parent to the right kid and allowing the parent to log into the moodle and view the work of the kid online HAS TO BE DONE RIGHT! It is the schools intention to upload the reports into the pupils area so the parents can see this on-line. So my question: Does anyone have experience with ZiLink or similar and care to share any pitfalls or gotchas? Thanks Stephen Edited May 1, 2015 by stephenwelch
localzuk Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 I have very recently signed up to ZiLink. Works well! Support has been good for the couple of issues we've faced. 2
stephenwelch Posted May 1, 2015 Author Posted May 1, 2015 Thanks for your reply. That sounds positive.
synaesthesia Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 We use OvernetData and have found them absolutely fantastic for support. Their sims to moodle link works flawlessly, and we've just started using their Edulink app for mobile registration & more. Well worth a shout and great value for money. 1
nickjelly Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Another recommendation for ZiLink here. The SIMS integration ticks over very solidly and the plugins on the Moodle side can now be installed via the Moodle plugins directory. Although we haven't gone down the route of parental logins and access I know ZiLink have put in a lot of work on this in the last year. Have a look at their Guardian View tool for more information. 2
browolf Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 I like zilink but it doesn't like our sims very much and there's been many problems. The problems aren't particularly Zilink's fault, just our sims is huge (big school) and complicated. E.g. we had to have assessment sync disabled as it wanted to sync 900,000 assessment results every night and take 8 hrs! I find the support is good when they know how to fix something, but when they don't we found ourselves in the dark with no idea what was happening. 1
