browolf Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 our sims solus is refusing to find the november upgrade we have version 3.61.387 nov release upgrades to 3.61.408 solus is trying to give us post november release patch 10740 (3.61.500) which fails to install cos we are on the wrong database version. well duh! the only obvious thing, on our upstream http://www.solus server there isnt a 3.61.387 to 3.61.408 upgrade zip file there is only 3.61.387 to 388,393,394 or 500 how does solus choose updates?
ChrisH Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Get the Westfield centre onto it. We pay them thousands a year for support so might as well use it .
browolf Posted December 14, 2007 Author Posted December 14, 2007 turned out they hadnt released it to us. kind of wierd how it thought the next update was the right one.
PhilNeal Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 In answer to the orginal question - your support unit "releases" versions and patches to you. SOLUS checks the availability of new patches against this database. It then goes to the next stage and checks the suitability of the release to the situation you are in.
browolf Posted December 15, 2007 Author Posted December 15, 2007 still it would seem sensible if solus told us that a version was pending but hadnt been released to us. That way we wouldnt have had to have waited hours for our support to get back to us just to say oh we havent released it to you yet.
PhilNeal Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Yes but how would we know that the support unit was intending to release that version to you? LAs quite often chose to skip a version.
browolf Posted December 15, 2007 Author Posted December 15, 2007 i suppose they'd have to have a pending list and a released list.
Jawloms Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Speaking from a Support Unit perspective, I'm with Phil on this one. We don't get phone calls from schools saying 'where is my release' when we choose to skip one, but I can pretty much guarantee that if SOLUS reported 'One is out but hasn't been released to you yet' we would get phone calls saying 'why haven't you released it' and 'when will you release it'. We just advise our schools that if there is something for them to do, it will be available and they seem happy with this. Stuart
browolf Posted December 17, 2007 Author Posted December 17, 2007 no i meant say the support unit can designate releases, as unavailable pending available and solus would tell us if something was pending or available but not if its unavailable.
