Smudge/smear mark on TFT screen

I ahve a smudge/smear mark on a TFT screen. I is my own screen at home and hasnot been used for around 3 months. I turned it on the other day to start using it and it has a sort of smear/smudge mark on the display. its almost like a finger print mark from when handling a newspaper. I tried the refresh/recall option and its made mno difference.

 

 

Any suggestions as to what can be done to try and rectify this as i have never seen this on a TFT before.

Sounds like something to do with the lcd liquid not spread properly but I don't have much experience with tft damage except obvious impact etc.

I remember reading something about sorting out problems with dead/on pixels by quickly flashing colours on the screen... that might help?

I thought usually dead pixels are really obviously a cluster of pixels, and didn't look like a smudge, but as I said, I have no idea...

If you press the screen you can damage it in this way. We had an engineer accidently squeeze the screen as he was clipping the outer case back on and he left the impressions of his fingers on the screen that would not go away. The screen had to be replaced. Felt sorry for the engineer as it was his first day in his new job.

Ooh, poor guy, that's the sorta thing that could cripple his confidence for a long time....

 

I blew up a psu in my first week. It was faulty and I couldn't of known not to plug it in, was in a primary school and just left unplugged, then we knew why!

Is it still under a three year warranty? Depending on how you feel about it most monitor service providers just do a swap out so after that if they are not happy there is little they can do.
