Bullet trains run on rails. This thing uses magnets.

We used to have a maglev in Birmingham, and one of the carriages from it is in the York Railway Museum. The Brum maglev ran from the airport to the railway station., and operated from 1984 to 1995. Unfortunately, it became unreliable and was too expensive to maintain, so it has been replaced by a cable winched system. I used to like riding on the maglev - it was an interesting piece of technology. The cable winch system seems very old fashioned. I go to work on another interesting train here in the Midlands Parry People Mover
