PC Problem

Ok im so confused about this, I was running my pc just surfing the web and then the monitor acted like it had no imput then it cam back but showed nothing. It was still running so i force restarted it and it comes back up it seems to works fine for a while and then does the same thing! sometimes it won't come back on and i have to leave it for 10 minutes and it comes on. Any ideas what it could be.

 

Its running:

Win 10 tech preview

Gigabyte 3gb 760 gtx

i5 4670k

750m Corsair psu

240 SSD

16 gb Kingston RAM ddr3

GA-BA85-HD3 Gigabyte mobo

 

I have change the ram slots over to the ones which weren't used didn't make a difference. I have change the GPU to second slot, also tried a second GPU exactly the same spec and, same thing happens. Anyone know a way to test MOBO or CPU?

 

It seems to die anytime i use something that uses the GPU eg. Playing Diablo 3 or some game!

Possibly heat related. Is it dusty inside? Are all fans working? What's your heatsink compound looking like on both your CPU and GPU?

I have cleaned it regularly! so its not dusty inside! The Heatsinks are looking ok! arn't very Hot i left it on all day to see if leaving it and doing nothing is fine and it was did nothing just sat there! and i hvnt been overclocking? To me it seems like a fault on the motherboard! or something with cpu but i cant be sure! I want to SLI my two GPUs anyways but cant cos its a cheaper mobo! so i might Buy a new one and see if that makes a difference anymore suggestions?

UPDATE! Launch Diablo 3 and checking things! before it dies!!! CPU running 55 degrees!! One PCI Slot on the mobo for GPU doesn't work at all now! 3 temperatures on MOBO are all different! 1 & 2 25 degrees and the 3 60 degrees is that too hot?

Those temps are standard really although the cooler the better of course. Most hardware can operate under high heat and the CPU itself can run up until around 90 deg which is when it usually shuts itself off automatically. Since your no way near that I wouldn't expect this is a temp issue and is more likely either your GPU or your OS causing the problem.

 

Try booting up to a USB using a linux distro as if you don't get any black screen issues it would suggestion it's your windows 10 install.

Presume 750 watt psu you have is sufficient to run two GTX 760 GPU's ?

 

Have you updated the bios on your motherboard to the latest revision ?

 

What sort of temps did you say the GPU's run at just before it reboots or the display goes blank etc ?

 

Also what driver(s) have you got installed for the GPU's ? Latest or one or two revisions before the latest version ?

 

If you only have one GPU installed in the main PCIe slot , is that still the same ?

 

Wondering - if you have a different PSU to try and see if that makes any difference ?

Your 760's will just not run on that slot.

Drop your second GPU out and I think it should run fine.

 

If you plan to run those 2 cards together, you'll need a board that can natively support SLI and have 2x PCE-E 3.0 x16 slots

I was running 2 for a while! but since problem only been running one! i put on in the second slot as if its in the first the pc won't even boot now! i have orderd a new motherboard and that seems better than this one!!! thanks for the help. the new one now supports sli so it should work better!

yes i have done so! its all fine i have checked the ram with another machine here at work.

Latest drivers for gpu and it runs at around 30 degree! atm im only running one! since this started!

i just don't have a way to test the CPU or Motherboard! i think its one or the other! the new motherboard should indicate things for me! still open to suggestions!
