NJH7 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 (edited) Hi everyone - bit of a weird one. I've looked online and basically it's not helping what seems to be the only way of fixing this. Getting the "The User Profile Service failed the sign in. User profile cannot be loaded" upon trying to login. However this is happening with ALL accounts (apart from when I log in locally VIA administrator). Even accounts which haven't logged into the desktop before are getting this message so pretty confused. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks, Nick Edited April 14, 2015 by NJH7
ITGuyWestMidlands Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 What type of profiles do you use? Roaming / Mandatory? Are your domain controllers functioning ok?
richbrowncardiff Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Hi there, I'm guessing you are using roaming profiles, check permissions as this is usually the cause. we get this now and again (1 or 2 a week) we have 1800 students and all roaming profiles with folder re-direction. unfortunately windows being windows you will get some corruption but you should not see what you are if the permissions and share access is correct. PM me if you need any help.
jklight Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 i just fixed this on a lab today. Checked application event log and it said permissions were wrong on a file that MS Visual Studio left behind. it was in the C:\users\default\ something something folder. so i wrote a script to do icacls \\computer\c$\users\default\whatever /reset /t /c /q and now no problem! Probably could have delete the file.
NJH7 Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 Thanks for your reply guys, Basically this is the only Win8 desktop in the place - all other windows work fine as the all run 7 That help? Thanks
sonic1485 Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 We have seen these errors when the HDD is full. We also found another reason why this might happen to be because of issues with a folder appearing in the default user profile. If you browse to \\machinename\c$\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\ and see a folder called 'sqm' then delete it. This should allow users to login again. Hope one of these solves your problem
