Do any of you use a equipment Booking / tracking system?

We currently use an excel spreadsheet to allow teachers to book laptops and then get students to sign a sheet saying which laptop they have borrowed. The system works however it's all a bit messy.

I would like a system where we can book the laptops but then the system tracks which student has borrowed each laptop and when it had been returned. Either by us typing their name or preferably using their fingerprint (biometrics already used in school for cashless caterig)

Does anybody know of a system that does any of the above and has anybody used or would recommend any?

Cheers all

Toyed with the idea of using @webman's ClassRoomBookings software to also add laptop sets onto it.. You'd simply just have to create a 'Room' that was the resource in question (Instead of, say, English Classroom 2 you'd name the 'room' English Laptops) and each member of staff would be able to book it for whatever lessons they needed it. Depending on how large your school is and how many resources you have bookable, it may or may not fit your needs.

I'm not personally doing this, though I did entertain the idea, because I know the staff won't really use it much and we have too many sets of laptops that move around.

Hi Garacesh,

We have 100 devices that we book out and it's not always a full calls that gets them so we may have 20 to one class, 10 to another and so on, ideally it needs to be a system that can manage each device independently.

The classroom booking software does look good for something though, I will have to have a better look at it.

Exchange 2013 and 365 will allow you to create equipment as well as rooms as a resource, and you can select who manages it; consider it a calendar belonging to a person; exactly the same only instead of a mailbox it's a room or equipment. Make them visible to all staff but managed by someone specific, people can then use them when planning time as they'll be able to see when resources are free too.
