Trying to create a new package in RMMC but the option is greyed out. Only thing I could find on RM support was that if the option was missing then assign RM application wizard to the machine running it. The option isn't missing just greyed out but I tried this anyway and still same issue.

Any ideas?

Options are usually greyed out because because you are in the wrong menu to carry out that task - however I can't find a menu that un-greys the New Package option. I have to say we don't normally create packages from the RMMC anyway so I couldn't say if its ever worked!

It is quite possible that I'm just doing it wrong. Only had to build a couple of packages since I started here 6 months ago and that was when I first started but I'm sure this was what I did. I cannot see any other places to do it though (File>New>Package is also greyed out).

You really need to create a 'Clean' PC built into the PackageBuild location on the RMMC. You then run the App Wizard to create the packages on that PC.

RM used to run courses on package building which were quite good, so it might be worth seeing if they still do them if you're interested.

That is on mine too.

You have to select file > import > new package

See RM article DWN3152898 for everything you need to know about importing or creating CC4 packages.

When you say create new package is this with a build machine using AppWizard or importing an msi or exe into the RMMC?

Are you trying to do this via remote desktop? I had odd issue a while ago where I couldn't create users, there was more than one RD session open on the server with the management console open. I ended all sessions and created a new one and everything seemed to work again. :o/

We generally create the package on a 'clean' computer (minimal package installation) and import it in via the management console . Might this be what you did previously?

[edit]Whoops. just seen that someone else has answered it.

I didn't think you had to do this if you was using an MSI?

Actually now I think about it maybe I have to import an MSI, not create a package out of it........

Edit:

Lots of posts while I was typing. Yes I think the problem was I need to import with MSI not create new package.... THIS time I will document that properly so I wont make the same mistake again (maybe..)

Thanks a lot guys :)
