Briefing notices

We are looking for a way that staff can put notices/alerts into a place that can be easily accessed and read out in registration. We have been using SIMS bulletins but we are finding it very clunky and staff are deleting notes "by accident".

 

I am thinking of using a blog page in wordpress to do this, but am wondering if staff will be ok with this. Does anyone have a better of doing this?

 

Would be nice to have a way for them to type in the notices click save and then it get posted to the page, rather than them going onto the page itself as i can see the "accidental" deletion happening again.

 

Any ideas would be appreciated.

This has just popped up at the top of the screen, as I am working on the very same thing. There was a system posted on here a while ago that I am now using. I will try and find a link to the relevant post.

This is the system that I am using, it was developed by another member on here. It's very popular with our staff.

 

I also use it to drive our Reception Notice board using the RSS feed and that doesn't always work very well, but the basic messaging system is very good.

We run an intranet and all notices go there. Like most schools, we have staff with varying levels of IT experience, so we had to come up with a simple solution. We have four M$Word docs on a shared drive. The staff edit these (most people can use a word processor), save the doc file and then save it again as "web page filtered", which creates an html file. These html files are displayed on the intranet. When it was sharepoint, it was done with CEWP. Now it is Joomla, it is done with a lightbox plugin.

 

The only downside, is that some staff managed to save the doc file to their home drive. We take a tough approach on this. If your changes are overwritten by the next person who changes the notice, it is your problem for not following the instructions and don't come crying to IT.

We use our VLE for this....currently with iScholaris....We're happy with it, although the same people who didn't use the old system (email/powerpoint) still don't use what we have now.

I did try the messaging system that was recommended, but I was wondering if there is anything else that people use.

 

A web-based system is preferred.
