Windows 8.1 RM CC4

Hi All,

 

I was wondering is there a way that i can just have a standalone version of windows 8 and not on the rm cc4 network but be able to have RMMC on that machine??

 

Any help would be great

Never tried, but the question I immediately would ask is; why would you want to?

We have RM CC4 Anywhere and use this to access RMMC on machines it not installed onto, or if you have enough ram why not have a virtual CC4 station on your machine.

The reason i ask is because the servers are not ready for me installing windows 8.1 so i have got a virtual windows 8.1 running and would like to be able to do the RMMC side of things on it if possible?

 

I know about RM CC4 anywhere but was wondering can anything be done just as it is?

also another reason is when you put a machine onto the rm network it runs really slowly with all the rm network stuff that goes on the laptop slows it down so thats why i want to see if i can get it on without it being on the network.

Could the same not be achieved by just using an RDC session to one of your servers / workstations where the RMMC is installed?

yeah it could be but would be nice to have it on my workstation.

As I have said before, I have never tried this and it is probably flawed at a very fundamental level. You can export the RMMC product from another machine running the RMMC. However I doubt this will work given how many dependencies the RMMC will have. I also would not try to connect it to a live CC4 network in case it somehow corrupts the postgress database.

It is possible and RM provide a way to do this - see TEC1257812 on RM support. I use it on my Windows 8 non domain PC and it works OK - won't do package imports though.
