Change iTALC port number

I'm looking for some help. We run UltraVNC on all the computers in our district so the IT staff can remote in and help with training and support. We would also like to run iTALC for some of our labs. Since UltraVNC and iTALC both run on port 5900 one has to be changed.

 

UltraVNC was here first and is already out there and configured so I really do not want to push out a change of port on VNC. Problem is, I cannot seem get the iTALC port to change. iTALC's Wiki says its can be done by....

 

You can achieve this by passing the option "-ivsport XXXX" to ICA. Under Windows you have to change the service-configuration of service "iTALC Client" accordingly.

 

However, I have had no luck doing this. Anyone have a suggestion? This is on Windows XPSP2 workstations.

You can add a string-value named "ivsport" in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/iTALC Solutions/iTALC/parameters/.

 

You can do the same for "isdport" (default 5800) although you probably won't need this.

Thanks! That worked. The port number is changed. I do however get an error message on startup saying that another instance of VNC is running. Possible to make this error not pop up? I don't know if its possible to run two instances of vnc on one box.

Can the italc installer be modified to use a different default port. We're in the same boat here.

Copy that in to a text doc , and save as ports.reg .. and execute..

Hello Brubakes,

I did not see any more updates on this post so I thought I would tell you how I fixed this issue. I had tried the ITALC solutions below and was not happy with the results. While in the registry I looked the the vnc section to compare the settings. I happen to use fastpush no icons so I can see what the cherubs are doing without them knowing I am there, Under realvnc or what ever flavor you are running, look for the port number setting in the registry. Simply change that to 5100 and you will be able to connect with viewer. When you are in viewer use this format at the line.

 

pcname:5100 or ipaddress:5100. Gets you right in. I tweaked the registry on one system and reimaged the labs. We use steadystate from windows on some machines but started to change over to Deepfreeze.

Sorry to bring this old thread to the surface again but I have had UltraVNC on our server (its uninstalled) and had issues with that server after running Italc on our whiteboard PC. Its seems coincidental (all sorted after a reboot) as its happened a couple of times. The server in question is our backup DC and it just seems to stop responding and then logons (all done by the primary DC) start to fail or timeout and the pc's go into crawl mode!

Main question is changing the port is that done on every PC with italc on it or just the master one? Could be coinicidental as I say.
