I wonder if anyone has a T5 and would share their experiences of it.

 

Thinking of getting one.

Middle class white van man wagon. Must be driven everywhere at 95mph, ideally with 20" wheels and Dub stickers plastered on. Must attempt to race powerful sports cars, winning by powering past once a 30mph zone is reached.

 

In seriousness, good solid vans. Expensive, not the best load area in the class, and usual issues with diesels - DMF, turbos and pipework. Can be made to be very quick.

Oh. That's quite harsh. Mine won't be white as Mrs E wants blue. 95mph? Not sure where you get that from and as for the 20" wheels - nahhhh. Never been into that.

 

Went out in a mate's van this evening for s spin and it seemed okay. Needs to be carpeted and soundproofed a bit methings.

 

The killer is the VAT because they are sold as commercial vehicles. That's annoying because it will be a family vehicle - so non commercial.

It depends on what your use is and how much you have to spend?

 

The Caravelle is the family run around, the shuttle the taxi version (tax to go with it) the Kombi the 5/6 seater or the van version.

 

Previously (pre 10 reg... I think) you had 1.9 or 2.5 Diesel engines, now it is all 2ltr. Choice of 88, 102, 140 or 180 bhp. I tried a kombi 140 last year... Really nice to drive, solid but it was £21k + vat at £4k ish... So £25k for a van.

 

If you look on the Forum you will find the conversions, the problems and the like. If you are going to convert/modify them, they come across as the middle aged mans, Max Power/Fast Car type vehicle.

 

With Ford releasing its Custom, the New Vivaro/trafic it won't be long before the new T6, it will happen but no idea when.

 

A family I know own the Custom as a work vehicle and the T5 as a van to convert to a camper. The Dad prefers the drive of the Ford!

 

Away from the dealers, the Scene tax applies, have looked at this option over a few years but house buying and commute don't favour spending £££££ on a vehicle I don't want to use in case it gets dinged.
